Sydney Contemporary 2025

This exhibition brings together artists working across contemporary photography, sculpture, video and works on paper. While some engage directly with lens-based practices, others incorporate photographic imagery as one element in a broader, materially rich approach – puncturing, stitching, painting or eroding the surface to disrupt its fixity.

Elsewhere, traditional metalworking techniques are reimagined, with native and foraged flora cast into intricate forms that are at once delicate and disquieting. Traversing themes of landscape, environment, portraiture and inherited histories, these artists are bound not only by place, but by a shared impulse to situate Western Australia within an expansive global context – at once rooted and far-reaching.
