New Works: 3 stories
New Works: 3 Stories brings together the work of printmakers Susan Morris, Caryn Giblin and Paula Watson who explore their experiences of place in this deeply considered body of new work.
The artworks in this exhibition emerged from a shared three-month artist residency in 2024 at the Hyphen Creative Studio, Wodonga. In these works, the trio of artists consider their experiences and relationships with the natural environment through visual stories about Fuzzy Blue Banded Bees, curated collections of objects and misty memories of the natural world. Through this collaborative residency, the artists were able to print together as they worked towards a body of artworks that explored and resonated with their individual senses of place.
Morris, Giblin and Watson are all artists from Albury Wodonga and have been collaborating and working together for over twenty years, sharing ideas, techniques and experimenting with different print mediums and practices. As printmakers, they have successfully facilitated six print exchanges for sixteen local print artists in the region. In addition, the three artists have facilitated print workshops for local students, artists and the wider community.
Through the visual language of prints, drawings and mixed media, New Works: 3 Stories documents their experience of nature, location and attachment while exploring the endless possibilities for experimentation within the diverse art-form of printmaking.
