Early Impressions – Painters of the Heidelberg School from the National Collection

Art Gallery 275:

Banyule Council is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by the Heidelberg School of artists. These works of art are on long term loan from the National Gallery of Australia with support from the Australian Government as part of Sharing the National Collection #artacrossaustralia.

This curated selection of artworks from the National Gallery Collection has been hand-picked for their portrayal of scenes in and around Banyule. For the first time since they were painted here over a century ago, we are pleased to display these paintings by Arthur Streeton, Clara Southern, Louis Buvelot, Charles Conder and Tom Roberts in Banyule.

With thanks to the Sharing the National Collection, we are bringing the Heidelberg School back to Heidelberg, sharing these treasures of local history with our community. Following this initial exhibition, the artworks will remain on display until August 2027.
