A Coming of Age

This exhibition marks twenty-one years since Flora Friedmann first became bewitched by the craft and art of basket making. A Coming of Age is symbolic of her growth in confidence in her skills. The mix of traditional and contemporary baskets exhibited are a result of the inspiration she has taken from many different cultures and makers.

At times, she has felt she is dancing with the fibres – sometimes the materials dictate the type of weave and other times, the weave tells her what fibre to use. Artist talk: 15 October, 11am–12noon, from $20.
