For the seventh article in our series which features writers chatting to artists that they share an interest with, Art Guide’s Tracey Clement spoke to painter Susan Buret about the creative potential of ‘women’s work.’
Born in 1983 in Sydney, and now residing in Brooklyn, NYC, Anna Kristensen is most recognised as a painter. However, it is at the crossroad of photography, sculpture and painting that her work tends to sit.
Quilty told Art Guide Australia, “I’ve been trying to distill the psychosis of the world into paintings, without leaving my studio… I’ve been working with live models, from all parts of the human condition, very young and very old, male, female, disabled and myself…”
“I used to have a studio on Smith Street in Fitzroy, which I started with Damiano Bertoli, Ricky Swallow and Raafat Ishak. It’s still running today. But after more than 15 years, I moved to Reservoir and needed somewhere closer to home.”
