THIS IS NO FANTASY was established in 2010 by Dianne Tanzer and Nicola Stein. The gallery is recognised for discovering and managing the careers of a small, select and diverse group of artists shaping Australia’s art discourse, both locally and internationally. Thee artists’ practices are characterised by rigour, critical engagement and a strong personal aesthetic. Central is examination of entrenched historical narratives and power structures, and a vision for change.
Resolutely committed to keeping their gallery stable small and home base in Melbourne, the gallery’s dynamic annual program of solo shows, curated exhibitions, and artist projects are complemented by a strong focus on off-site and institutional exhibitions globally with regular participation in international art fairs and public projects.
