Textiles X Art

Increasingly, textiles are a site for resistance, storytelling, and innovation. Contemporary artists continue to turn to textiles as both medium and message—finding new ways to engage with ancient technologies that demonstrate the expressive power of cloth to speak to urgent contemporary themes of identity, gender, migration, and environment. Featuring the work of former Artists in Residence at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, this exhibition presents the diverse practices of artists who have each explored the medium in unique and compelling ways. Curated by Beck Jobson and Ramona Barry, the exhibition coincides with the launch of their new book Textiles x Art (Thames and Hudson AU).
