Schulim Krimper: mid-century artist and master craftsman

The work of Schulim Krimper holds a distinctive place within the field of mid-twentieth century Australian furniture design. Creating modern hand-crafted timber furniture, he was a skilled craftsman whose European training and knowledge of international traditions and contemporary design developments informed his work. Krimper’s legacy has relevance to the design aesthetics and approaches evident in Bayside’s history of mid-century architecture. This exhibition presents a range of Krimper’s furniture, including pieces from private collections which have never been shown in public. Curated by Kirsty Grant.
