From the sea, the land and the mountains: works by Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) and Jinibara artists – NAIDOC 2025

To celebrate NAIDOC 2025, the Gallery will have on show From the sea, the land and the mountains: works by Kabi Kabi and Jinibara artists. This exhibition celebrates some of the First Nations artists from the traditional lands of the Sunshine Coast Region – the Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) peoples of the shores and the northern hinterland, and the Jinibara peoples of the southern hinterland.

Profiling up-and-coming Kabi Kabi artists, Kane Brunjes with assistance of Birrunga Gallery Hub in Gallery 1 and Zartisha Davis, with paintings and installation in Gallery 2 and in Gallery 3, under the guidance of Jason Murphy some of the Jinibara artists have been creating prints to share their stories.
