A Real Experience
Taking its inspiration from Vivienne Binns’ iconic project Mothers’ Memories, Others’ Memories, a landmark collaborative female-led community artwork created in Blacktown between 1979 and 1981, this exhibition celebrates female-identifying artists whose work has been shaped by their connection to Blacktown. A Real Experience takes the themes of Binns’ project to engage deeply with the Blacktown City Council Art Collection, unearthing the histories and stories held within and presenting a wide range of artists whose practice speaks to memory, storytelling, and the lived experiences of women across time.
