The sun shining ultravioletly one day upon the protean sea

The creative practice of acclaimed printmaker Heather Shimmen is a world occupied by a vivid assemblage of characters from both Western mythology and Australian history, dancing a precarious line between truth and fantasy. Her detailed and imaginative figurations of humans (often women), flora and fauna often reconfigure and metamorphize into combinations of the three. A prolific maker who pushes the boundaries of the print, Shimmen presents a suite of new works in this large solo presentation at LRG.
