Salient: Contemporary Artists at the Western Front
In 2017, almost a century after the guns had fallen silent, 12 leading Australian artists visited the WWI battlefields of the Western Front. Deidre Bean, Harrie Fisher, Paul Ferman, Michelle Hiscock, Ross Laurie, Steve Lopes, Euan MacLeod, Ian Marr, Idris Murphy Amanda Penrose Hart, Luke Sciberras and Wendy Sharpe each created new work in response to their experience of both the history and the present-day reality of these sites.
Salient: Contemporary Artists at the Western Front brings together the work they created, a series of artworks that include paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture. A touring exhibition by New England Regional Art Museum and King Street Gallery.
Opening Saturday 11 May, 6pm.
