Representation, Remembrance and the Memorial
The exhibition will provide insight into the Australian Research Council research project, Representation, Remembrance
and the Memorial and an opportunity to explore its research archive. Led by the artist Brook Andrew, this project addresses the lack of memorials and visibility in the public sphere to the histories,
memories and legacy of the Frontier Wars in Australia through an international comparative study. This exhibition will include artworks by Brook Andrew, and the London-based Mauritius artist
Shiraz Bayjoo; and interview recordings with Indigenous scholar Professor Marcia Langton, American architect Peter Eisenman and scholar of cultural memory, Andreas Huyssen. MADA and
the RRM project acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Custodians of Melbourne, the Boon Wurrung and Wurrundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nations, on whose lands we gather. Curated by
Brook Andrew and Jessica Neath.
