An exhibition titled Animal Nation may, on the surface, presuppose a simply figurative display of animal life.
This summer, the exhibition Water, which features 40 works by both Australian and international artists, asks visitors to take the time to really think about this precious resource.
The show features new commissions as well as recent and historical works by more than 30 local Indigenous artists, celebrating the continuing vitality of First Nations’ communities.
Timing is everything. Viewed in April Fiona Hall’s solo show, Gateless Gate, reads like a meditation on the senselessness of war: the perfect antidote to the beer-soaked, jingoistic, flag-waving frenzy that often seems to accompany the more sombre rituals of ANZAC day.
