Jan Murphy Gallery

The Jan Murphy Gallery celebrated its 20th year of operation in March 2015. In that period it has taken its place as a leading Brisbane gallery, dedicated to the exhibition and sale of contemporary art of the highest calibre. Situated in the heart of Brisbane’s gallery precinct, its three exhibition spaces are heralded by the large gallery windows facing Brunswick Street, themselves local landmarks that delight passing pedestrians and motorists as they showcase the regularly changing exhibitions.

The gallery represents a stylistically varied selection of local and interstate Australian art by established and emerging artists. Gallery director Jan Murphy, a member of the Australian Commercial Galleries Association with formal qualifications in art history, is well placed to offer specialist advice on all aspects of the establishment and maintenance of an interesting and rewarding art collection.

The exhibition program is complemented with substantial stockroom holdings of early and current works by represented artists. In addition, the gallery provides an art consultancy service for both individual and corporate clients. Services include valuations of contemporary and early Australian art, the negotiation of commissions, and liaison with interior design and architectural professionals.

The gallery is also happy to arrange on-site consultations to assist with the best selection and placement of works, and to advise on framing, restoration and conservation of artworks.
