Jordan Sprigg and Kay Gibson
Two Expressions of Nature
Jordan Sprigg and Kay Gibson are avid observers of our southwest fauna. This joint exhibition focuses on Western Australian wildlife as depicted by each artist in their chosen genres.
Jordan utilises recycled metal farm machinery, tools and implements. His understanding and appreciation of these time-worn parts of a past life allows space for creation of new life in their current composition. Jordan’s keen observational understanding of his subjects’ anatomy results in majestically realistic forms that capture individual expression of character.
Kay Gibson grew up in the Margaret River region and has developed a passionate knowledge of the local flora and fauna from a young age. Kay Gibson’s portraits of local fauna are often painted on old maps of the region, harking back to early botanical illustration while images of owls, emus, and local birds are hand embossed onto paper or hand carved in shina plywood.
