Mid West is a collection of photographs by Christian Fletcher inspired, in part, by the New Topographics exhibition held in America in 1975. The work offers an alternate view of the landscape that is so often overlooked. The banal man altered landscapes denaturalising the sublime Australian vistas. The images speak of human effects on the land, the use of this land and the way it will be thought of into the future. Simplified compositions and a pastel colour palette add to the stark nature of the work creating a sense of reflection and historical relevance. All images are offered as original pieces, with only one image in the edition.
