Living amongst the bush environment in the Perth Hills has directly influenced Sandie Schroder’s art practice. She reflects the threat of fire through the techniques she uses to create her pieces, burning archival paper to produce her images with a variety of tools.
The resulting works have tonal impact with a permanent scorched and etched effect. Just as the bush can be burnt and destroyed, some of Sandie’s works suffered a similar fate in the creative process. Ignite is a superior body of work beautifully created from fire and new shoots of life.
