Gone But Not Forgotten
Aboriginart’s latest exhibition features some exceptional work by some Desert artists who sadly are no longer with us. Such luminaries as Minnie Pwerle, Dorothy Napangardi, Makinti Napanangka, Lorna Fencer Napurrula, Judy Watson Napangardi and the recently departed Kudditji Kngwarreye are all represented in a stunning showcase of their amazing work. These senior visionary artists helped to revolutionise the contemporary Aboriginal art world, developing unique trademark techniques that were deeply spiritual, yet powerfully simplistic and vibrant in their execution. The obvious enthusiasm and passion with which these pieces are created clearly demonstrates the artists’ intrinsic affinity with the land, and highlights some wonderfully simplistic unique painting styles and techniques. You’ll go a long way to see a more exciting display of energetic and powerfully emotive indigenous art. These artists’ works are destined to be as legendary, if not already.
