Rather than simply relegating the voice to mere sound, in Seeing voices the voice comes to us in many utterances and instances. It is linguistic, cultural, social, gendered, human and post-human. In this regional touring exhibition the voice is explored as a visual, political and material entity.
Examining the poetics, textures and vernacular languages of Mexico City are 12 artists who have lived or worked there, participating in the mutual transformation of the city.
“I have an odd sort of studio, a tiny room in the middle of my house. There are only one or two square metres of space I can actually walk in, the rest is taken up by shelves, desks and equipment.”
