Experiment Make Sense: International Triennial of Media Art
Harvard biologist E.O.Wilson believes the challenge for 21st century humanity is that, “We have Palaeolithic emotions, medieval institutions and god-like technologies”. Experimenta Media Arts presents an important exhibition of leading international and Australian artists who engage directly with this conundrum. We humans still make sense of our world through our physical selves and the cultures that we participate in.
Experimenta Make Sense asks, will the increasing uptake of embedded technologies overtake these sites for generating meaning? Curatorial themes in the exhibition include: How do we make sense of the world around us? How do we make sense through making? How we use our senses to make sense?
Artists and collaborations include Anna Munster and Michele Barker, Antoinette J. Citizen, Gail Priest, Scale Free Network, Ella Barclay, Matthew Gardiner, Andrew Styan, Jon McCormack, Lauren Edmonds, Briony Barr, in collaboration with physicist Andrew Melatos, Judy Watson, Adam Donovan, Jane Gauntlett.
