Ebb Tides

Tay’s paintings ponder ebbing tides retreating and surging, alternatively exposing and concealing rocks, crevices, sea creatures and plants. Using ink and tissue-thin paper and the physicality of big gestures in applying liquid to paper, the works are highly unpredictable. Paired with a conceptual video that raises questions of familiarity, vulnerability and belonging through the symbolic avatar of the pipi. Prepare to be surprised and amused by the exploits and misdemeanours of pipis.
