This exhibition combines the work of seven young artists as they explore their respective racial identities, themes of immigration and refugees, and an examination of contemporary multiculturalism in Australia. Through a collection of painting, drawing and sculptural pieces they speak about living life as culturally diverse youth in modern society; whether that involves handling stigmas and stereotypes, or trying to preserve links to cultural tradition while living in a western country. Disperse aims to open the community into further discussion in regards to tolerance – creating a secure space for both artist and audience to find common ground through art. Vulnerability and honesty drive an overall message of equality, showcasing the positive diversity within our contemporary art community.
