Desert Aspects

Aboriginart’s latest exhibition features a collection of stunning works painted by some of our most collectable Indigenous Desert artists. These colourful pieces showcase the important contribution that these artists have made to the Australian contemporary art scene.

On display are some exciting works by Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi, Abie Loy Kemarre, Kudditji Kngwarreye, Gloria Petyarre, Polly Ngale, Kathleen Petyarre and Anna Pitjara among others, as well as some old favourites by the late greats, Clifford Possum, Minnie Pwerle, Judy Watson Napangardi, Lorna Fencer Napurrula and Dorothy Napangardi.

This diverse range of collectable paintings depicts various elements of desert life relating to traditional bush medicine, bush tucker and certain aspects of special ceremonial occasions. The obvious enthusiasm and passion with which these pieces are created demonstrates the artists’ intrinsic affinity with the land, and highlights some wonderfully simplistic, yet powerfully unique painting styles and techniques.
