Even though Chinese-Australian artist Lindy Lee has changed and refined her art practice over time there are certain themes that continually pervade her work.
Like many exhibitions, Telaesthesia began with conversation. “The five artists in this exhibition all shared a studio space for several years until 2012 and we would sit around our kitchen table and talk about what it meant to be painting in a post-digital and post-internet world,” says curator and artist Tony Lloyd.
That unwieldy and shapeshifting beast, the artist-run initiative, comes in myriad forms and structures, all lumped into one handy pen for the ease of grant panels.
Blanchflower’s Canopy series is being showcased at the newly refurbished Drill Hall Gallery at ANU. The solo show spans over 30 years of work and features paintings borrowed from national, state and private collections.
