Australian born, London-based multidisciplinary artist Dr Christian Thompson has been announced as the recipient of the $80,000 Mordant Family VR Commission for his proposed work Bayi Gardiya (Singing Desert).
“If I’ve got images that I think are fantastic for an exhibition, I’ll print them up and stick them to a wall or a pin board. I do pretty large test strips. I’ll stare at them for months and see if they still give me that gut feeling.”
Radicality doesn’t necessarily sit in one temporality or in one action, but spans, as the exhibition portrays, across histories and through consequences.
